Happisburgh is the world famous site which pushed back human occupation in the UK by over 200,000 years. This axe is dated up to 600,000 years old by the British Museum. Footprints have been found and recorded dating back to 900,000 years ago.

The Axe is extremely large, it has the classic chunky very early Lower Palaeolithic shape. The more well worked examples of Lower Palaeolithic Handaxes came very much later.

Beautiful dark black, green, earth and cream patina. The original flint was a lighter grey colour.

Recorded by the British Museum and a remarkably rare piece of history. https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/972161

The Happisburgh beach site in North Norfolk, England has the oldest known stone tools in the UK and in fact the whole of Northern Europe. They are extremely rare with only a couple of examples coming on to the market previously. This one was found by a fellow collector after a huge storm called the (Beast From the East). The storm was 6 years ago now. The area is now heavily covered in sand and they rarely appear now.

Circa 600,000 years old, potentially older as footprints have been found there dated to 900,000 years old.

This Lower Palaeolithic Handaxe has been recorded by the British Museum, here is the link
